Nikki Byrd
I have been teaching in Electra ISD for 22 years. I got to teach grades 5-8 for most of that time in all areas except math. This year I got the opportunity to move to the high school level to teach US History, World History, oversee dual credit, and coordinate Odyssey, a credit recovery program.
Schedule

More than boring old dead people.
My name is Nikki Byrd, I have been teaching for Electra ISD for 22 years. I am currently teaching US History and World History at the high school level. I am also the contact for Odysseyware, an online program used for credit recovery. I coach the UIL academic team for Social Studies and I am one of the Senior Class sponsors.
Irony
When I was in school, I detested social studies classes. I saw no value in names, dates, or battles. As I began studying my family history, I learned more "rest of the story" twists in events. That is what hooked me completely to be a history buff. My students will still tell you I'm not big on dates, except obviously significant ones.
